Dear Meetup friend,

Thanks for being a member of our Meetup group. For those of you who haven’t visited us yet we’ve created an inspiring and collaborative workspace at our home in the heart of Brighton. We've got artists, designers, technologists, writers, strategists, scientists, graduates & even a friendly dog.

“I love working from the Happy Start Up HQ every week. Great views over Brighton, bean-bags to get comfy on with my laptop, and a meeting room when i need it. But it’s so much more than just an office space or desk - its a community of fun, inspiring and energising people, where i get to share ideas and learn something new every time i’m there over coffee, lunch or even a beer or two. Happy times in the Happy HQ :). ”

Our vision is to build a vibrant and friendly hub for Brighton’s startups, changemakers and social entrepreneurs. Whether you’ve got the seed of an idea or you’re a seasoned entrepreneur we’ve created a space where you can connect with and learn from other like-minded people.

Unlike other startup hubs around the city we believe in more than just building businesses. We also want to create a real community that has a positive impact on the city. Making money and doing meaningful work should not be mutually exclusive. We believe by being more open and collaborative we can all be successful, “a rising tide lifts all boats”.

Connection is critical to business success and happiness! The advantages are immeasurable, be it to gain motivation and inspiration, get feedback on your ideas or lead to partnerships that you may never have previously imagined.

“Being part of the Happy Startup Clubhouse has been a really rewarding experience. The community is really vibrant and there is always someone around to bounce ideas off or to help you to get unstuck. There are so many useful workshops and talks happening at any given time. I’ve met so many inspiring people here and had the chance to collaborate with many of them. ”

The lease for our clubhouse is up for renewal at the end of March and we want to sign a new 3 year lease as a way to mark our commitment to our mission. Our expertise is in creating learning experiences and events that inspire, empower and connect people. If you’ve been to one of our Lean Coffee’s you’ll know what we mean. We want to continue doing this and help all of you achieve the success you wish for yourselves. However, we need to know that you want this.

And so we need your help and participation.

To keep the space going we need £2,500 per month. We’re not looking to make a profit. We just want to make the space sustainable. Until now it’s been paid for by our current members and subsidised by The Happy Startup School.

We'd love to invite you to come on board as one of our founding members and support our mission.

From just £49 a month you'll get :

  • A place to come and work, connect with like-minds and get away from the busy-ness

  • Free entry to all our workshops, lunchtime sessions and Lean Coffee (regular price: £10)

  • Free access to our Startup Home School e-course worth £200

  • Hefty discounts to our more adventurous events (such as Lazy Guru, Walkshops, Summercamp and retreats)

  • Monthly momentum calls where you can share your questions or challenges, and get feedback from your peers

  • Membership of the Happy Startup School and access to our online community platform of budding entrepreneurs and changemakers from around the globe where you can get support for your ideas

With your support we know we can create an inclusive and diverse startup hub that will have a lasting positive impact on you and the city you live in.

Laurence & Carlos
Founders of the Happy Startup School

The Happy Startup School is the brainchild of Carlos Saba and Laurence McCahill, two old school friends on a mission. Together they ran a successful startup studio for more than 10 years and launched dozens of startups. 18 months ago they made the bold decision to shut down the agency to focus on realising the vision they had for the School.

These days as well as developing the programs, events and global community, they can be found at events around the world, speaking about purposeful entrepreneurship and sharing their vision for a happier, more connected world of business.
