LEARN HOW TO use empathy to level up your leadership
Empathy is the ability to identify and understand other people's situations, feelings and motives. This doesn't mean having to agree with everyone's view or trying to please everybody. Rather, by putting ourselves in their shoes and seeing things through their eyes we are empowered to make better decisions.
In his book, A Whole New Mind: Moving from the Information Age to the Conceptual Age, Daniel Pink predicts that the best leaders will be those who have strong interpersonal qualities. In order to compete Pink suggests six areas that are vital to our success, one of which is Empathy. It's a skill that is difficult master but is increasingly important to business, particularly in this age of young, independent, highly marketable and mobile workers.
To become empathic leaders we need to cultivate a deep sense of self-awareness in order to effectively work with the emotions of others.
This is a highly participatory program where you will gain the professional skills to work more effectively with others and deepen the way you relate to yourself. Through cultivating greater consciousness and a working practice of Non-Violent Communication (NVC) you'll not only learn a set of skills but also a way of life.
The group size will be small to keep it intimate and allow us to dive into personal and practical examples.
What You'll Learn
A fundamental understanding of NVC
You'll learn how it applies to understanding yourself, your relationships and your organisation better.
A deeper sense of purpose
You'll explore your own personal purpose and what is most important to you. You'll develop an ability to make decisions that are in alignment with your values and needs.
Life and business alignment
Using an understanding of needs to create more alignment between your personal values and your work.
Emotional management and conflict prevention skills

Creative problem solving
You'll learn a new way of solving problems that takes into account the three levels of needs: personal, interpersonal and organisational.
New collaborative approaches
You'll learn how to create collaborative systems in your organisation so as to improve internal clarity, motivation, assertive communication and overall team effectiveness.
Tools for clear communication
You'll gain new skills for approaching difficult conversations, feedback giving and setting boundaries from an empathic standpoint (without losing connection with the other person).
how it works
The program will be run over 8 weeks during which you will attend seven 1.5 hour group sessions delivered over the Zoom platform. The group size is intentionally small to allow for more personal and practical examples to be used.
You'll also receive a 1.5 hour personal coaching session. Participants will be paired up with their own program buddy for weekly buddy sessions. There will be occasional homework and participants will receive course materials and exercises in PDF format.
your course leader
Christine is the head of Conversable, a social enterprise and empathy movement that works with clients as diverse as local governments and the UN, all the way to multinational corporations and at-risk communities in developing countries. Their mission is to spread non-violent and empathic communication to as many people as possible, which has led her to hosting one of our annual Summercamp's most popular workshops.
